Did C. S. Lewis believe in ghosts and witches?

He writes about ghosts and witches in his books but did he actually believe in them? He was atheist for a while but also Christian (Church of England). I don't think atheist believe in ghosts. He writes about Ghosts in The Great Divorce and a witch in Narnia.
