Will you folks help me settle a bet...?

When I like to try a new product (food/drink, whatever) I bring it to a party that I'm expected to bring something to. Then I get to try it, I fulfill my contribution to the party, and if I don't like it, I don't waste the whole thing. Everyone has the chance to try the new product without spending the money and chancing a waste.
