Death penalty questions?

hi i was watching a show on puting inmates to death they said on the show every death was painless i dont get that shouldnt it be painfull like the show had the electric chair the lethal injection hanging fireing squad if anyone can tell me if it is painfull or not and why u thihnk that 10 points right away plz help
